1. Introduction to Maritime

1. Describe the diversity of economic activities of countries around the world, the maritime transport sector, and its importance in the national economy.<br>2. Describe ship types and their structural differences, as well as explain the basic concepts of ship theory.<br>3. Describe ship equipment and systems and their main functions.<br>4. Observe ship work organization and ship procedures, as well as the principles of teamwork and effective communication.

2. Maritime Regulations, Occupational and Environmental Protection I

1. Comply with the requirements of maritime-related regulatory acts while performing duties on board a ship.<br>2. Comply with health and occupational safety principles while performing duties on board a ship.<br>3. Comply with marine pollution prevention requirements in accordance with the MARPOL Convention, national regulatory requirements, and ship procedures.

3.1 Foundation Maritime English

1. Communicate in English in everyday situations on board a ship.<br>2. Communicate clearly and understandably in English with the ship’s crew and other persons involved in ship operations while performing work duties and in emergency situations on board.<br>3. Use manuals and other technical publications in English required for performing work duties.

3.2 Maritime English for ship's navigators

1. Communicate clearly and understandably in English with other ships, shore stations, traffic services, the ship’s crew, and other persons involved in ship operations while performing the duties of a ship officer on board:<br>2. Observe the principles of business communication in English, both in writing and orally.<br>3. Communicate clearly and understandably in English on matters of navigational safety and in emergency situations on board the ship.<br>4. Use manuals, navigational and other publications, as well as ship logs required for performing work duties, in English.

4. Watchkeeping

1. Steer the ship, following helm orders and taking into account navigational and sea conditions.<br>2. Maintain visual and auditory watch in accordance with the COLREG Convention and the requirements of Chapter VIII of the STCW Convention.<br>3. Participate in deck and navigational watch, observing the procedures for taking, keeping, and handing over the watch.<br>4. Use emergency equipment and apply emergency procedures on board the ship.

5. Shipboard Duties

1. Use the deck equipment and machinery required for shipboard tasks, observing safety measures and the operating instructions for the equipment.<br>2. Participate in mooring operations, following procedures and the officer’s commands and instructions.<br>3. Participate in anchoring operations, following procedures and the officer’s commands and instructions.<br>4. Participate in the ship’s maintenance and repair work, observing safety measures and ship procedures.

6. Cargo Operations

1. Participate in cargo handling, observing safety measures and equipment operating instructions.<br>2. Participate in stores handling, observing safety measures and equipment operating instructions.<br>3.
